Who We Play For

The Durango High School HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) chapter began its collaboration with Who We Play For (WWPF) in 2023. We discovered this remarkable organization during a local screening event and engaged in productive discussions about how we could partner effectively to enhance community health initiatives. As an organization, Durango HOSA aims to empower students to pursue their passions while simultaneously making a positive impact on our community.

Since 2023, our partnership with Who We Play For has progressed significantly, allowing us to work towards our shared goals. We have successfully conducted local screenings within our school and the surrounding community, bringing vital health awareness to our peers and neighbors. Furthermore, we have taken our commitment to cardiac health to new heights by participating in state-level competitions in Denver, Colorado (Colorado State Leadership Conference), as well as international competitions (International Leadership Conference).

This collaboration has provided invaluable opportunities for our students, particularly those passionate about cardiac health and pursuing EKG Tech certifications. Through hands-on learning and practical experience, students have been able to engage with their interests while contributing to the well-being of our community. Overall, our partnership with WWPF not only fosters personal growth among our members but also plays a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of those around us.
